Antipolo Cop killed, another hurt in Buy Bust Operation
Camp BGen Vicente P Lim– Member of Antipolo City Intel Operative was killed while another one was injured when the elements of operating team encountered members of LEGO group during a buy-bust operation on April 23, 2019 at Sitio Sagipin and Mapayapa, Brgy. Dela Paz, Antipolo City.
Accordingly, suspects RANIE E. LAJOTA alyas ‘LAON’ and CELESTE E LAJOTA alyas ‘ETCHAY’ sensed that they are transacting with police operatives while exchanging illegal items and buy bust money prompting them to run and grab their fire arms from a nearby residential house, thus started firing against the members of the operating team.
An exchange of fire transpired hitting PAT ARIEL I DAPYAWEN and PSSG MONJARDIN. PAT Dapyawen was rushed to the Antipolo City District Hospital while Pssgt Monjardin who was hit on the stomach was also rushed by other operatives to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center. Unfortunately, PAT Dapyawen died while undergoing medical treatment at the said hospital while PSSG Monjardin is now under stable condition.
Suspect Celeste Lajota died during the fire fight while Ranie Lajota died after the operatives cornered and fired at him shortly after he managed to escape heading towards Purok Mapayapa.
PBGen Edward E Carranza said the suspects are brothers and both residents of Sitio Sigipin Brgy. Dela Paz, Antipolo City who are members of LEGO Group, a known notorious drug user/pusher involved in Gun-for-Hire activities and series of Robbery incidents operating in the Province of Rizal.
Suspect Ranie Lajota had two (2) murder cases filed in Antipolo City Police Station one of which transpired on February 18, 2019 at Saguipin, Brgy Dela Paz, Antipolo City where his victim was identified as Ban Hallen A Gabanes and another incident transpired on April 20, 2019 at the same place were his victim was identified as Cary B Banzuela.
Recovered from the crime scene were one (1) Shotgun, one (1) Cal .38 and the Service Firearm of PAT DAPYAWEN.
“We are in deep grief by the loss of one of our men. We assure the families left by PAT Dapwayen of assistance and support and all the benefits due to them and so with the other injured PSSG Monjardin,” said PBGen Edward E Carranza.
PBGen Edward E Carranza awarded this afternoon the ‘Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting’ to PSSG Joseph D Monjardin for being Wounded-In-Action and for his courageous deeds while ‘Medalya ng Kadakilaan’ (Posthumous) was awarded to the demised PAT Dapyawen conferred to his family for his acts of heroism in the performance of duty.
“This will not stop us from running after similar criminal groups. This is one of our focus efforts especially that 2019 Midterm Elections is fast approaching. We want to make sure that these criminal groups will not be able to launch any atrocities that will affect the peace and order situation in our region,” the Regional Director further added.
